Wildlife friendly veg

Wildflowers are not the only food source for bees and other pollinators. Quite a lot of organic, home grown vegetables provide tasty meals for you and sources of nectar and pollen for bees. In return, the bees will pollinate your vegetables, which will result in a more abundant  vegetable yield for you. Do make sure you grow organically though, pesticides and enhanced soils may do more harm than good to both the bees and you. Choose a good peat free organic compost and use old fashioned methods, such as companion planting to keep pests at bay.

Some pollinator friendly veg are:

Onions
Carrots
Turnips
Peas
Runner beans
Broad beans
Courgettes
Squashes, pumpkins, gourds
Cucumbers
Tomatoes
Peppers
Aubergines

Happy growing!
