Over the last thirteen years we have:
- organised and run the ‘Cuckfield Local’ market, promoting local produce and producers, held in the Talbot courtyard on the second Saturday of each month, now moved to the Rose & Crown car park
- promoted a plastic bag free Cuckfield and sold over 1000 cotton bags and 400 jute shopping bags
- promoted an exchange stall at the market, for the sharing of excess produce
- developed a Community Garden which had 24 allotment plots
- promoted a ‘Bee friends with pollinators’ campaign to encourage people to grow more nectar rich flowers to support bees and other pollinators, which are rapidly reducing in numbers
- organised a ‘Bee Friends’ photo competition with the 12 winners’ photographs appearing in a ‘Cuckfield Local’ 2013 calendar. Over 100 copies were sold at the market
- offered lots of lovely wildflower seeds for people to take and grow in their own gardens
- planted a wildflower border at Cuckfield Recreation Ground, in conjunction with Mid Sussex District Council
- built and populated a bee hive at the Community Garden
- started collecting milk bottle tops and coffee jar lids, which you can’t put in your everyday recycling, to send off for specialist recycling
- organised films, talks and events to promote awareness of local and global issues
We’re always looking for new ideas – why not join us?
